Aww… size 9. I love this picture. Rustee actually took this picture with her cell phone at my niece’s birthday party. Just look at it.

We all used to be able to wear those skates. Remember that? The wheels so tight you really couldn’t skate… it was more like walking.

When I see these skates, I see innocence. I see his endless opportunity.

It’s mine and Rustee job to nurture that endless opportunity. We need to create and maintain an environment that strengthens his character, builds his confidence, and encourages him to dream big dreams.

Life his hard, not easy. Yet, life is simple. Love God, love your neighbors, follow your dreams, and never give up.

I want to raise our children (Brady, Taylor Noel, and Brenden) to dream big. People do and can accomplish big things. Just think, “what if…”. What if we all realized our full potential? What if we never give up on our big dreams?

One of my big *why’s* in life (what drives me) is to succeed and remove any excuses my kids may one day have.

In the movie The Edge, Anthony Hopkin’s character has Alec Baldwin’s character repeat several times, “What one man can do, another can do! What one man can do, another can do!” That line has been one of the most memorable lines of any movie I’ve ever seen (except for a few lines from Major Payne). ;-)

Life is not easy. We all have many obstacles to overcome. But in the word’s of Winston Churchill, “Never, never, never give up.”

And one day my kids will have kids wearing a size 9.
