The Road | Part 1: Destination
Our destination on the road of “Christianity” is not salvation. It is, technically, not Heaven either. Salvation is the beginning of our journey. Once we accept and receive Jesus for all He has done for us, Heaven is a given. Where else would we go?
So if our goal is not salvation, or even heaven, where are we going on this road? What destination should we plug in to our “spiritual” GPS’s?
Our goal is a relationship with Father God.
In chapter 14 of the book John, Jesus tells us the He has come to reveal the Father to us. In the Old Testament, God was looked at as a wrathful God. Jesus presented Him as “Abba” Father, or “Daddy” God.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
Our focus daily should be on building a relationship with God the Father… through Jesus. God loves each of us so much. He desires a relationship with all of us.
At night, I often climb into bed with each of the kids just to love on them. They don’t know I’m there. But I know I’m there. There is an indescribable peace and joy that I find snuggling with my kids. I believe this is how God feels about us. He just wants to “be” with us.
One reason I like laying with the kids while they sleep is because they’re still… they’re quiet. I don’t want God to wait until I’m sleeping to spend time with me. I want to “be still and know” that He is God. I want to be sensitive enough to hear His whisper, not have to wait for a scream.
If our destination is a relationship with Daddy God, what keeps us from that? In the next two posts of The Road, we will look at the two main distractions that keep us from our destination. See you then.

Good one Billy. I would add that ultimately our goal is to know God and glorify Him forever. He already knows us, but we need to know and glorify Him, which is what we were created for.
